Women’s National Team Members Move to Next Chapter
April 28, 2021 : As a new international season is set to begin, several members of the women’s team are being honoured for their contributions to the program as they move on to the next chapter in their lives.
“Representing Canada meant everything to me, it’s why I dedicated the majority of my life to this adventure,” said former captain, Kyla Richey. “It was the start of my journey and the fulfillment of my dreams.”
Richey, who played professionally in France this year, is among several team members who have decided to retire from the National Team program.

Incoming head coach Shannon Winzer acknowledges the contribution of the team members who were dedicated to the program and helped the team qualify for Volleyball Nations League (VNL), among other accomplishments.
“I’d like to thank the athletes for their hard work and dedication to the National Team program over the years,” said Winzer. “Without their determination to make an impact, we would not be in the position to play in major tournaments such as VNL. I wish them best of luck moving forward with the knowledge that they are an inspiration to future generations of players.
