OTTAWA – After Black Friday and Cyber Monday, join the movement dedicated to giving – GivingTuesday. That is the opening line when visiting canadahelps.org. It is a sentiment that many organizations, that support numerous causes, are hoping Canadians heed the call for and donate to a cause that matters to them. Wrestling Canada Lutte (WCL) is no different as each year the costs of developing programs, wrestlers and competing around the world increases.

2022 will mark the 10th anniversary of GivingTuesday, a global generosity movement that sees charities, companies and individuals join together to rally for their favorite causes. It harnesses the potential of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in their communities; it provides a platform for them to encourage the donation of time, resources and talents to address challenges.

WCL’s mission is to provide leadership, support and safety nationally to our athletes and other participants in pursuit of international podium success with a vision of achieving sustainable international excellence through the growth of wrestling in Canada. Key areas of focus include: culture, governance & management, podium performance, return to sport through development, and sport promotion.

To accomplish these responsibilities and goals, significant resources are required. That is why on this GivingTuesday, WCL is asking the wrestling community to support these and other initiatives.

WCL, as a federally incorporated not-for-profit corporation and Registered Canadian Amateur Athletic Association (RCAAA), is able to issue charitable tax receipts for income tax purposes upon receipt of donations from individuals and corporations. Tax receipts are available for donations in excess of $50.00. Please refer to WCL’s Donations & Tax Receipt Policy for more details.

WCL’s success is well documented as just in 2022 Canadians have won 48 medals (10 gold, 15 silver, 23 bronze) at the Commonwealth Games, Continental Championships and World Championships. However, we are always striving for the best and would love to see that number increase. Through your donations, not only is more international success possible but it also helps to grow the sport at the community level.

Donating to WCL is easy and individuals can choose where they would like their generosity to go whether that is a specific program or where the greatest need is. To donate visit: https://wrestling.ca/donation/.

Donors may request that 100% of their donation be used for WCL Programs such as:

  • Cadet National Team
  • Junior National Team
  • U23 National Team
  • Senior National Team
  • Olympic Team
  • Quest for Gold
  • Other

So this GivingTuesday please donate to Wrestling Canada Lutte to help insure the continued success of Canadian athletes!
