August 10, 2022, (OTTAWA, ON) …. Two leading Canadian sports figures will be keynote speakers at the premier conference for the sport tourism industry in November. President and CEO of the Edmonton Elks, Victor Cui, and Meaghan Mikkelson, a three-time Olympian, now retired from her professional hockey days and working as a broadcaster, will both be featured during the three-day Sport Events Congress. It will take place at the Edmonton Convention Centre on November 2-4, 2022. This marks a return to an in-person event, which is the largest annual gathering of everyone connected to the $7.4 billion sport tourism industry in Canada, since 2019.

Born and raised in Edmonton, Victor Cui will kick off the final day of the conference, with an inspiring message that outlines his progression from a young football fan to global sports executive and now returning to his hometown to lead its CFL franchise. Later that day, Meaghan Mikkelson will relate her story in Alberta, Hockey’s Heartland. She will share how lessons learned through overcoming adversity during a 30-year career in sport propelled her to excel as both an athlete and a broadcaster. Another proud Albertan, Meaghan will relate how hockey provided her with opportunities to travel the world, get an education abroad, compete at the Olympics, and seek adventures with family.

The lineup of speakers, presenters and co-hosts will also feature Amanda Rummery, Team Canada Track and Field Para-Athlete and Christina Hollingworth, an Enoch Cree Nation Member who will perform the National Anthem. Returning to #SEC22 are co-hosts Greg Amiel and Sylvie Bigras, who most recently shared hosting duties of the virtual version of the Congress in March of 2021.

Registration is capped and the deadline to secure a spot in the room on Nov 2-3-4 in Edmonton is September 15th.  Don’t miss this opportunity to reconnect in person with the brightest minds in the sport tourism industry while enjoying the SEC brand of fun and social networking. New this year are theme days – so delegates can prepare to:

  • Wear Your Favorite Sneakers on Day 1;
  • Your Favourite Team Jersey on Day 2; &
  • Your Favourite Hat on Day 3!
