Hello Athletes and Members,
With the current climate in sport and with the support of Sport Canada, the sport community has proactively lead, created and is now beginning to communicate out the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS)
This proactive step in the right direction will be incorporated by all National Sport Organizations and their provincial partners to ensure the protection of athletes, members, and the Canadian Sport Policy’s core values. As athletes and members, it is important for you to understand that the sport community is listening to athletes and prioritizing the long overdue changes that Sport Canada is spearheading.
Over the coming year, Triathlon Canada will be incorporating the UCCMS into all facets of our policies, community education and awareness; coaching, officials, athletes, parents etc. It is expected to be fully implemented by all NSO’s by April 1st, 2021.
It is of the utmost importance that, as an athlete and member, you comprehend the content of the UCCMS. The UCCMS is clear on ensuring everyone has an avenue to be heard and to be protected. It is clear in defining and articulating overt maltreatment but more importantly it helps you be aware of subtle maltreatment such as grooming, power imbalances and neglect.
The UCCMS is attached in French and English for your records. I would advise that you review thoroughly and ask questions if you need to.

harassment, abuse or discrimination. The anonymous, confidential
and independent service will allow them to share and validate their
concerns, obtain advice on required next steps, and be referred to other
appropriate resources for follow up.
The Canadian Sport Helpline, 1-888-83-SPORT, funded by the Government of
Canada, is a listening and referral service monitored by live operators
from 8 am to 8 pm Eastern time, 7 days a week. Users will have a choice
of communicating via a toll-free phone line,
email, text or live chat, in the official language of their choice.
