March 13, 2023 — Vancouver, BC — Canadian Para Snowboarder Tyler Turner continued on his untouchable hot streak this weekend, this time defending his World Championship title with a dramatic snowboard cross win in La Molina, Spain. This victory makes Tylers second consecutive World Championship title, and comes hot of the heels of a World Cup victory in Passo San Pellegrino, Italy.

Turner’s victory was well earned, with the USA’s Noah Elliott at his heels through the entire Big Final. Both riders were more than matched for the difficult banks and tight corners of the course, which saw falls from third-place finisher Mike Schultz, also racing for the USA, and Daichi Oguri of Japan. “As always the boys pushed hard,” said Turner. “It was a tight race and we were nose to tail all the way through turn two there. It’s always exciting racing with these guys.”

Turner races in the Lower Limb Impairment 1 Category, for athletes with severe disabilities in one or both limbs. Six years ago, he lost both of his legs in a skydiving accident. He refused to let that stop him, electing to overcome the double amputation that resulted from his injuries and continue to pursue snowboarding, surfing, skateboarding– he even continues to skydive.
