Team Ontario – With less than one year to go until the 2021 Canada Summer Games, Team Ontario Chef de Mission Steve Sevor is pleased to announce the volunteer Team Ontario Mission Staff who will support Ontario’s athletes, coaches, and managers at the Games taking place from August 6th to 21st, 2021 in Niagara, Ontario.
Embracing the pillars of innovation, inclusion and connecting the Ontario sport community, the Mission Staff represent “the team behind the team” working to ensure that the operational needs of the athletes, coaches, and managers are covered. From liaising with the host society on travel, accommodation and sport schedules, to working with the media to promote the stories and achievements of all athletes, Mission Staff work tirelessly so that the athletes can focus solely on their competitions.
“We are pleased to assemble this passionate and talented team who are all committed to ensuring Team Ontario’s success at the Games” said Sevor. “With Niagara 2021 the first home Canada Games since 2001, and its position on the calendar right between the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo next summer, we have a unique opportunity to showcase sport in Ontario and the brightest of its future stars. Niagara 2021 is an excellent opportunity for Team Ontario to shine and our Mission Staff are ready to take on this incredible privilege.”
Mission Staff volunteers bring their career experience from across the sport sector and beyond. This role provides the opportunity to increase leadership skills, to meet new people, to gain experience working with the provincial and national sport system, to act as ambassadors of our province and most importantly to support the next generation of international competitors hailing from Ontario.
