The first four champions of 2020 have been crowned The first four champions of 2020 have been crowned in Ontario. The U-16 and U-14 Boys and Girls divisions wrapped up their 2020 Ontario Indoor Cup campaigns with plenty of excitement. The Prostars FC and Alliance FC London met twice in the fin als, with the boy’s sides facing each other in the U-16 and U-14 division championships respectively and taking home one title a piece. Glen Shields FC came from behind to win the U-16 Girls division title while the Erin Mills Eagles were steady in the U-14 division win. Click here to find stories, video, photos and highlights from all of the division finals. Canadian Women kick off Olympic qualifying tonight The Canadian Women’s National team will kick off their 2020 Concacaf Women’s Olympic Qualifying journey when they face St. Kitts & Nevis on Jan. 29. The match is the first of three group matches en route to Concacaf semi-finals on Feb. 7. The match kicks off at 5 p.m. and will be broadcast on OneSoccer.ca as well as on Rogers TV. Click here for more information on the match. WATCH – Play. C-License spots still available in Ottawa and Vaughan The first two C-License courses of 2020 have sold-out but Ontario Soccer is pleased to announce Ottawa and Vaughan will host C-License courses. Clarification on Grassroots Standards for 2020 On Jan. 4, 2020, Ontario Soccer sent out an Information Bulletin on the Approved Game Related and Non-Game Related Soccer Operational Procedures for 2020. Ontario Soccer has issued a clarification on that bulletin, which included the statement that the Grassroots Standards, formerly known as the “Ontario Soccer LTPD Development Matrices,’ are now recommended standards for players U12 and under, in order to be aligned with Canada Soccer. Click hre to read the clarification and more on player matrices.
