Preparations well underway for the Audi FIS Ski World Cup in Lake Louise

Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup –Calgary, Alta (November 5, 2019) – After a successful start in SoĆ«lden, Austria, the 2019 Audi FIS Ski World Cup alpine speed season begins in three weeks. Lake Louise, as the only Audi FIS Ski World Cup stop in Canada, is known for its early season snow and promises to bring excitement from top to bottom on the legendary race track.
Ā
ā€œWe are excited to once again host the first speed events of the World Cup season.Ā  We have had excellent early season cold temperatures, which bodes well for our snowmaking efforts on the track,ā€ comments Brian Lynam, Race Chairman, Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup. ā€œIt has also allowed the Lake Louise Ski Resort to move up their opening day by a full week, giving ski racing fans an early start to the ski season.ā€Ā

The Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup is notorious for the proximity fans have with the athletes and the intimacy of the hamlet of Lake Louise, nestled pristinely inĀ Banff National Park.Ā Join the fastest ski racers in the world as they compete at theĀ Lake Louise Ski ResortĀ for the first menā€™s and women’s downhill and super-G races of the 2019/2020 season. TheĀ Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise acts as our host hotel, as one of the only stops on the circuit where all teams are hosted under one roof.

Join us in the finish area and around the base of the Whiskey Jack Lodge on Saturday and Sunday race days for family fun geared toward celebrating the start of the season. These include a variety of free activities like learning to snowshoe, sit-ski and becoming informed about the local flora and fauna in a wildlife interpretive display; and for kids 12 and under, learn to ski. Or sit back after the races and take in some local food and beverages, as you sit and listen to a DJ spin some tunes from the Kokanee Kabin deck.

Donā€™t forget that kids ski free on race days too! Buy an adult lift ticket at Lake Louise Ski Resort, get two free for kids 12 and under, kids must be present.

Please go to lakelouiseworldcup.com for a full list of race day activities.

About the Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup
The worldā€™s fastest skiers descend on Alberta at the end of November each year to compete at the Lake Louise Audi FIS Ski World Cup. Held in the heart of the majestic Rocky Mountains at Lake Louise Ski Resort, Canadaā€™s highest-profile alpine ski race features the first menā€™s and womenā€™s speed events of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup season. First hosted in 1980, the Lake Louise World Cup event is the first outside Europe to be named to the prestigious Club 5, an organization that brings together the most famous and historic World Cup alpine race organizing committees. The event has become synonymous with the start of the ski season each winter. It also represents the only opportunity male and female Canadian alpine skiers have to win a World Cup on home snow.
