The Ottawa Sports Awards Board of Directors recently made the following decisions in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, in an effort to proactively follow the relevant guidelines of the City of Ottawa and Ottawa Public Health, in addition to the province of Ontario:
- Nominations are now open for Lifetime Awards in Coaching, Technical Officials, and Volunteering/Administration, as well as the Mayor’s Cup. Honourees for these awards will be selected in December and the awards will be presented virtually to recognize those who have made a long-term commitment to growing amateur sport in Ottawa.
- There will be no selections made for Sport Awards for individuals or teams for the 2020 season, out of respect for those who were unable to compete in 2020.
- The annual dinner at Algonquin College, tentatively scheduled for January 27, 2021, has been postponed indefinitely.
The Ottawa Sports Awards is proud to continue its 68-year tradition of annually honouring the finest in the Ottawa sports community. Nominations for a worthy recipient of a Lifetime Award can be sumbitted via the online nomination form.
