OTF Grant Provides Ottawa Sport Council funding to build its resilience and sustainability

Ottawa, ON – On Saturday, local MPP Joel Harden met with the team at the Ottawa Sport Council and its members to hear more about the $67,900 Resilient Community Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation that was used to develop a critical post-pandemic revenue diversification plan which will ensure the Ottawa Sport Council can continue its mission to serve its community.

“This investment by the Ontario Trillium Foundation to support the Ottawa Sport Council to continue and diversify its valuable work with the community will strengthen the Ottawa community sport sector for the long term,” said Joel Harden, MPP for Ottawa Centre.

Thanks to this $67,900 grant, the Ottawa Sport Council will be able to build its resilience and sustainability and continue its valuable work in the community by allowing it to develop and implement a diverse and resilient revenue generation strategy.

“The impact of this Ontario Trillium Foundation grant cannot be overstated.” said Marcia Morris, Executive Director, Ottawa Sport Council. “This grant will allow us to build sustainability which will enable us to continue to work in partnership with our members to build a safe, inclusive community sport sector. We also want to congratulate the Ontario Trillium Foundation on 40 years of granting and building healthy and vibrant communities across the province.”

Established in 2013, the Ottawa Sport Council’s mission is to enrich the sporting experience in Ottawa by promoting inclusivity/accessibility in sport and supporting development and growth of community sport – so everyone has the opportunity to participate. The Ottawa Sport Council works in partnership with its members- 300,000 participants (750 local sport organizations) and provides support through education, advocacy and philanthropy. As the unified voice of amateur sport in Ottawa, the Ottawa Sport Council (OSC) facilitates advocacy and growth for all community sport organizations. We believe that there should only be positive experiences in sport. The impact of the Ottawa Sport Council’s work over ten years has been increased safety, inclusivity, and sport participation opportunities in Ottawa.
