Olympic Viewing Event in Support of Tyler Mislawchuk

July 20, 2021 – WINNIPEG, MB – Triathlon Manitoba is pleased to announce that we will be hosting an Olympic Viewing Event to cheer on Tyler Mislawchuk, a Manitoban Triathlete competing in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Tyler is a resident of Oak Bluff, Manitoba and has been a member of the Triathlon Manitoba community for over a decade. He started racing in Kids of Steel events before joining our Youth and Junior programs as part of the Manitoba Triathlon Centre before graduating to the National Team. The Tokyo Games will be his second Olympics, which he enters as a medal favourite, having won the 2019 Tokyo Test Event and his final World Cup race in Huatulco, Mexico, last month.

On Sunday, July 25th, Triathlon Manitoba invites its members and other Team Canada fans to join us as we celebrate this momentous day by swimming, biking or running at Birds Hill Park prior to the screening.

The official event will begin at 4:00 pm in the Winnipeg Folk Fest parking lot of Birds Hill Park before Mislawchuk toes the start line at 6:30 am Japan Standard Time. We will be streaming the race on an LED wall, custom-built for our event.

It has been over a year without in-person events, the Triathlon Manitoba community is eager to reassemble and celebrate Mislawchuk in a safe, fun and meaningful way.

“Triathlon is a sport where many amateurs train all year to race one event. With no events possible last season, it’s been a tough year for all of us – but Tyler’s dedication and sacrifice have been monumental,” said Triathlon Manitoba’s Executive Director Jared Spier. “It means a lot to our community to be able to gather again, but it means even more to see our most dedicated and successful triathlete earn a reward for all the hard work he’s put in.”

This event will be limited to 150 people with tickets available by pre-registration only on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets can be purchased for $5 each, with all registrations tracked and limited to ensure that we comply fully with Provincial Public Health Orders and allow sa

fe distancing between all in attendance.

We look forward to the opportunity to cheer on Tyler as he is such an incredible ambassador of our sport, province and country.
