Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic – (Thursday, September 19, 2019) – The Support4Sport vip coaching program is scheduled to make its official debut during National Coaches Week from September 21-29. The program is designed to raise the bar for what it means to be a coach in Nova Scotia. Support4Sport vip participants will be part of a broad community who are leading the way and creating a positive impact on the lives of everyone in the provincial and community sport sector.

“The Support4Sport vip program is a unique opportunity for coaches to receive well-deserved recognition for the time they continue to dedicate to their communities,” said Kirsti Mason who oversees the program for Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic. “We know that most coaches in Nova Scotia are volunteers, so we want to reward these coaches for their contributions.”

More than 175 coaches are currently enrolled in the Support4Sport vip program. All vip coaches receive clothing, educational resources, professional development, networking opportunities and more. The program is funded through Nova Scotia Gaming as part of its commitment to support community and provincial sport programs through the sale of designated lottery products.

“The vip program is one example of our commitment to fund what matters to Nova Scotians,” said Bob MacKinnon, President and CEO of Nova Scotia Gaming. “We’re proud to work with our partners at Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic to deliver a program that allows coaches to excel in ethical leadership.”

Coaches across the province are invited to enroll in the vip program. Participating coaches must be appropriately certified for the level in which they’re coaching, agree to meeting minimum safe sport training recommendations, sign the Coaching Association of Canada’s Code of Conduct and be actively involved in regular professional development. Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic will support coaches in meeting these criteria. For more information about the program and to apply, go to support4sport.ca/vip

About Support4Sport:

The Support4Sport vip program is made possible by the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation’s Support4Sport program, which was introduced in 2006. Funds are raised through the sale of designated lottery products. Each time one of those products are sold, 100 per cent of the proceeds help Nova Scotians get in the game. Since its inception, the program has helped raise over $42 million. Support4Sport is the largest source of funding for amateur sport in Nova Scotia.
