National Team Training Camp August 22 -27, Mississauga

It has been six month since our last national team event. In last few weeks I have been in contact with senior men national team players, selected juniors and their PSOs. Good news is that all of them have been active. Some of them still prefer to do it in isolated environment, but many have started to practice in group environment. Montreal HP Center has already opened its doors! A few players got proactive and started to travel between provinces in order to practice with each other (Jeremy Hazin and Edward Ly). No doubts, that it is the right time to start with National Team training camps!

Summer break is on its end and we need to use opportunity for multi-days training camp. Contacted players who expressed their readiness to participate at camp in Mississauga (August 22-27) are:

 Jeremy Hazin

Terence Yeung

Edward Ly

Tommy Xu

Joyce Xu

Sophie Gauthier

David Xu

Nicole Cai

Hongtao Chen

They will work under guidance of Eugene Wang and Maxime Surprenant. Siqian Wu and Tong May Hui, Canadian Senior Women Champions from 2019 and 2018, would also like to support training camp and they will attend some of training sessions.

Camp is not mandatory and HPC is fully aware of the difficulties related to situation of the COVID 19. Athletes and their parents are expressing different situations in their environment. While we’ll do our best to minimize risks following health and sports authorities recommendations, our first camps are not going to be mandatory. Our initial plan to have one summer training camp (Montreal) where all National Team listed players would be invited is replaced with plan to have more camps regionally where we will have up to 10-12 players. Implementation for required social distancing will be easier.

You can expect more camps targeting different age categories in near future.  Dejan Papic, High Performance
