Mosquito Monster Mania Media Release

Baseball Manitoba – Forty (40) 11U baseball teams will converge on Little Mountain Sportsplex in Winnipeg for the 2019 Mosquito Monster Mania on Sunday, May 26.  The Monster Mosquito Mania is a fun one-day event for 11U (Mosquito) “A” teams from Winnipeg and surrounding communities, and its purpose is to foster an appreciation for the game, provide some skill development for the players and coaches, and promote the sport of baseball.

The games will be played using some slight modifications that will speed up the game, make it easier on the pitchers to throw strikes, and allow for a better game for the participants.  Modifications include using a pitching machine for the first game to reduce the number of pitches thrown, and the use of side-toss after all ball-four deliveries so that the batters have to hit their way to get on base.

The Mosquito Monster Mania is non-competitive, in that no winner will be declared.  Each team will play two games, and will also receive a two-hour skills session with Baseball Manitoba clinicians.
The young officials are not forgotten as the local Winnipeg Baseball Associations are providing the umpires, many of them entry level officials.  Umpire supervisors will be on hand to assist in development and corrections for the officials.

The first games and clinics will start at 10 AM.  The last games will start at 3:30 PM.  For further information, please contact Baseball Manitoba at 925-5765.
