Membership Updates – June 9th

Return to Sport

I know many of you are anxiously awaiting the moment when the new waivers will be available on Trackie.

We anticipate that everything will be online and ready to go by Thursday, June 11th.

All active Athletics MB members will receive an automated email that will include a link to the new forms that must be completed. Please make sure your contact information is up to date in the Trackie system. (NOTE: for some club members this will mean following up with your club registrar to ensure you provided the correct email address at the time of registration).

You can look up your Membership # here

We must be very clear with the following points.

Athletics Manitoba Staff and our Board of Directors are doing everything we can to get the necessary items in place to allow our athletes, coaches, and clubs to formally resume their training. However, this is not a race to see which sport can get all their ducks in a row the quickest. It has been wonderful to see overall case numbers staying low in MB, but as we watch conference competitions get cancelled for fall sports here and across the country, we should be reminded how important it is that we take our time and implement a responsible plan that we can potentially manage long term.

By working with Athletics Canada and the staff at Trackie, we are making sure that the paperwork required for our return to sport will be handled through a central, reliable, online system.

Parents and athletes, don’t hesitate to reach out to your coaches and/or clubs and make sure you understand what new processes they are planning to implement.

The Government of MB has an online screening tool available through the Shared Health website. This is a great and easy to use tool.  All members should complete this screening before each session. Coaches and Clubs have been asked to request this and to record that it has been completed by all members of the training group.

Remember, Public Health inspectors have the authority to distribute fines. We do not know how often officials may monitor training sessions, but if groups are found to not be following the recommended guidelines it will have an impact on us all. Please, take your time and do your due diligence now, so that as soon as we are able to provide that last piece of the puzzle, you are truly ready to resume training.

It is the responsibility of all members and affiliates to abide by policies and procedures designated to ensure a safe environment for all.

Thank you to our membership. You have been extremely understanding and supportive during this process. Please know that we want everyone back out there just as much as you do.

It seems a little much to keep piling on with the track specific phrases but we really are getting close to the finish line….  lol
