(June 14, 2021)- The Honourable Suzanne Lohnes-Croft, Minister of Communities, Culture and Heritage, and Sport Nova Scotia are pleased to announce that Lori Lancaster will be Nova Scotia’s Chef de Mission for the 2023 Canada Winter Games in Prince Edward Island.

Lancaster is an experienced marketing and communications professional who works in the Alumni Relations department at Mount Saint Vincent University. She’s the head coach for the Lockview High School varsity girls’ basketball team and is passionate about sport.

Lancaster is a two-time Canada Games athlete, with five years of experience leading the UPEI women’s basketball program in the early ’90s. She’s also worked with Atlantic University Sport as an assistant coach for UPEI and DAL women’s basketball programs and has over 20 years of community coaching involvement. She was part of the 2015 Canada Games mission staff for Team Nova Scotia, sits on the Soccer Nova Scotia board of directors and is the current Chef de Mission for Team Nova Scotia at the 2022 Summer games in Niagara.

The Chef de Mission is the head of the delegation for Team Nova Scotia’s contingent of athletes, coaches, and managers who represent the province at the Canada Games. As chef, Lancaster will lead a team of mission staff who manage logistics, disseminate information, organize events, handle administrative tasks, troubleshoot, and liaise with the host society to support and promote Team Nova Scotia.

  • The competition is Canada’s largest multisport event, hosting over 3,600 athletes and coaches and 4,000 volunteers.
