Diving Canada – NAPLES, Italy – Laurent Gosselin-Paradis of Montreal collected his second bronze medal at the 2019 Summer Universiade placing third on men’s 10-m tower. He was also third in the men’s 10-m synchro last week with Ethan Pitman of Edmonton.

Jose Dieg Balleza of Mexico took the gold with 453.70 points, Bowen Huang of China was second at 417.35 and Gosselin-Paradis, the youngest entry at 18,  followed at 399.10 in his final competition of the season. Pitman was 12th.

‘’I wasn’t really looking at the scoreboard so I wasn’t sure what my standing was throughout the competition,’’ said Gosselin-Paradis with his first individual international medal of his career. ‘’But my next to last dive was a bit shaky so I knew I was probably outside the medals going into the last one (he was fourth).’’

The medal concludes a breakthrough season for Gosselin-Paradis.

‘’The biggest thing I learned this year is how to control my emotions and manage my stress in competition,’’ he said. ‘’I can’t wait to get back into action for next season.’’

In the team event, Canada was seventh with Pitman and Elaena Dick of Edmonton.

Canada ends the diving portion of the Games with two bronze and three fourth place finishes.
