Kitchener Waterloo Sports Council’s Women in Sport Committee in support of KidSport KW are hosting a conversation to explore how we can get more girls and women in sports.

Kitchener-Waterloo, On. – Kitchener Waterloo Sports Council’s Women in Sport Committee alongside KidSport KW are hosting a virtual panel discussion on April 13, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. about what participation for women and girls in sports could look like post-pandemic. Even before COVID-19, the participation of women and girls in sports in Canada was lagging. The unfortunate events of the pandemic have further eroded the representation of females in sports and in workplaces.

Our panelists include Senator Marty Deacon, a coach and educator, Crystal Shadd a college professor with an extensive background in fitness and health promotion, Tamara Grahovac, a triple jumper at the University of Pennsylvania, and Amanda Woodcroft a member of Field Hockey Canada’s Women’s National Team since 2013.

These distinguished athletes, decision makers, and former Olympians will discuss what is needed to include more girls and women in sports, and how female athletes can use their hard-won life lessons to shatter barriers in workplaces. The Zoom webinar will be moderated by Vanja Lakic, Stewardship Officer with KidSport KW.

Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and have input throughout the discussion. Registration details are available at https://kidsportcanada.ca/ontario/kitchener-waterloo/events/back-on-track-virtual-panel-discussion/

All press-related questions can be directed to Vanja Lakic (vnlakic@gmail.com)

KidSport KW is a charitable organization that raises funds to support kids in Kitchener-Waterloo in need of financial assistance to participate in sports and dance programs. Despite the pandemic, we are still working to ensure no child is left on the sidelines. We welcome any donations. All proceeds will go toward helping more kids access sport and dance programs. Donate today!
