Kettlebell National Championships Come To Nanaimo

For the second year in a row, the Kettlebell Sport Western National Championships will be held on Vancouver Island.  This year the event comes to Nanaimo, British Columbia and is being organized by Solomon Macys, head coach of the Nanaimo Kettlebell Club.  The event will take place on March 30th from 8am to 5pm in the Malaspina Room at the Coast Bastion Inn, downtown Nanaimo.  Nationals is where athletes compete to be selected for the National Team, but the event is open to all athletes regardless of their intentions to qualify or not.

Canadians have been competing at the World Championships in Kettlebell Sport since 2014, and Team Canada has amassed over 117 medals, two team relay trophies, and placed as high as 5th in overall standings.  This year the WKSF World Championships takes place on June 6 to 9 in Rzeszòw, Poland, and the IUKL World Championships take place October 10 to 14 in Korfu, Greece.

Athletes will be arriving from all over Canada to participate, as well as visiting from the United States.   This year, Coach Solomon will host a CKA Judging Certification Course on Friday March 29 (3 – 6pm), and lifters can participate virtually on Sunday March 31.
