Halifax, N.S. – Nova Scotia Excels at 2019 Karate Canada Junior National Championships

Karate Canada – Karate Nova Scotia recently attended the 2019 Karate Canada Junior National Championships in Edmonton, Alberta from May 10-12. Karate Nova Scotia sent 23 athletes as part of Team Nova Scotia. This constituted the first edition of the stand-alone junior event, assembling no less than 443 athletes, 56 coaches and 56 officials. These championships constitute the main selection event for the Junior National Team Program.

Team Nova Scotia faired very well winning four individual medals – 1 gold and 3 silvers!

  • Gassan Alkurdi, Halifax NS- Gold in Youth -55kg
  • Brayden Ott, Dartmouth NS-  Silver in Youth -50kg
  • Riley Deveau, Clare NS- Silver in Junior -61kg
  • Angel Niet, Windsor NS- Silver in Junior -50kg
