Gloucester Skating Club sends largest Team to 2020 National Championships!

The Gloucester Skating Club is extremely proud to announce that it is sending its largest team of skaters since 1994 to compete at the 2020 Canadian Tire National Skating Championships in Mississauga, Ontario from January 13-19.

Under the close watch and guidance of coaches Darlene Joseph (also GSC’s Director of Skating) and Jodie Bierko (also GSC’s CanSkate Director), and choreographers Julie Brault and Krista Smith, these skaters jumped, spun and spiralled their way to a top 18 finish at Skate Canada Challenge to qualify for Nationals.

Congratulations and good luck to:

Novice Men:
Joshua Dore
David Shteyngart

Novice Women:

Hayley McGuire
Jessica Lui (representing Skate Kingston)

Junior Women:

Emmanuelle Proft

These impressive young athletes have trained on average 3-4
hours a day, 5-6 days a week for 8-10 years to get to this stage of their
skating careers.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to recognize and
congratulate Ottawa’s own Kaiya Ruiter who got her start skating at the
Gloucester Skating Club.  Kaiya, who now
lives in Calgary, placed 1st in Junior Women at Challenge and will make her
return to Nationals next week.
