FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifier 2023 window 5 media accreditation process now underway

The media accreditation process for the fifth window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Qualifiers is now underway. The fifth window of the qualification journey will be played from November 10 to November 14.

Canada will face Venezuela on Thursday, November 10, 2022 (9:10 p.m. ET) before taking on Panama Sunday, November 13 (7:10 p.m. ET). Both games will be played at the Edmonton EXPO Centre and live on Sportsnet.

The deadline to apply is Tuesday, November 8 (23:59 CET).

The field for the Second Round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Qualifiers has been finalized with some fascinating matchups to look forward to. In the Second Round, each team will play games with the three teams from the other group over the final three windows. The Second Round windows will take place in August 2022, November 2022 and February 2023.

The Qualifiers format for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 will remain unchanged from the 2017-2019 cycle, with six windows over a 15-month period across the four regions of Africa, Americas, Asia (including Oceania) and Europe. For more information, please click HERE

MEDIA ACTIVITIES

Mixed Zone interview opportunities

Interview opportunities will be organized for all Rights-Holding and Non-Rights Holding media. These interviews will be carried out in a pre-defined location around the court area or in an appropriate Mixed zone area.

Post-game Press Conferences

Press conferences will be organized in the venues. All media representatives will be entitled to attend in person but their presence will also depend on available space.

As access to the venues is now guaranteed, remote access to the post-game press conferences may not be available for all games (for ex. Via Zoom).

Access to Practice Sessions

Subject to FIBA confirmation a limited number of Rights-Holders and selected Non-Rights Holder will have the possibility to access the end (5 minutes) of practice sessions. Arrangements should be made on-site with the Broadcast Operations Venue Manager and Media Officer.

Media accreditation will only be provided to individuals who comply with the local testing requirements (according to host country regulations). 

HOW TO APPLY FOR MEDIA ACCREDITATION

– Log-in to the FIBA Media Portal or, if you are a new user, create a new profile;

– Select the Qualifying Tournament you wish to attend under the “My Events” section (to be found at the top of profile page);

– Complete all registration fields as necessary;

– IMPORTANT: you will be able to re

quest a “remote coverage accreditation”. This accreditation type will allow you to follow the event remotely and have the opportunity to ask questions to players and coaches virtually during media availability (after the game and during post-game press conferences on Zoom, if applicable). You will also receive additional content to support your coverage of the event from afar.

– Make sure that all tabs are filled out correctly and the information is saved. Following registration, you should receive an accreditation submission confirmation email.

Creating a profile or logging in to a previous existing account is not an application in itself; you must make certain that after your create a profile (account) you also proceed to apply for the event (as per steps #1-5 above).

Your email address and password will allow you to access and modify your application form up until the application deadline.  All applicants are responsible for their travel visa, should one be required.

ACCREDITATION DECISIONS

Media accreditation decisions will be sent out in due time via the FIBA Media Portal.
