Eleanor Harvey Wins Second Consecutive Fencing World Cup Medal

Canada’s Eleanor Harvey took the bronze medal at the women’s foil world cup in Guadalajara Mexico on Saturday. This was the second consecutive competition that saw her on the podium following her silver medal at a world cup in Poland in January. Constantly moving up the international rankings since the Tokyo Olympics, Harvey, who recently moved to Calgary to train with the EPIC fencing club, is now ranked 8th in the world.

In team competition, the Canadian team finished a season best 5th, duplicating their result at the Olympics. After defeating Spain in the first round, Canada’s only loss came against the USA in the quarterfinals. The Canadian team of Harvey, Jessica Guo, Kelleigh Ryan and Ying Cao rebounded from that loss with victories against Hungary and Japan to maintain their current #6 international ranking.
