DAY 3 QUOTES OF THE DAY:

Naima MOREIRA-LALIBERTE (Gold Medallist: Equestrian – Dressage Team) on her test and the team’s gold medal:

“I think my test was really good. It was steady and clean, which was the goal today. Steady ride for the team and we achieved the plan so I’m really happy about that and we won goal. It’s unreal.”

Elllie BLACK (Gold Medallist – Artistic Gymnastics – Women’s Individual All Around) on winning gold:

“It is awesome. I really just wanted to enjoy it today and wanted to fix some things from my routines from day one [and] just continue to build towards the world championships [in Stuttgart, Germany, in October].”

Ellie BLACK (Gold Medallist – Artistic Gymnastics – Women’s Individual All Around) on how she plans on staying energized after qualifying for all four final events:

“Starting now, I have to mentally just prepare, bring myself down, rest, recover as best as I can, get some good sleep and then come back again tomorrow to do it all again. But we’ve got some Canadian girls in the finals as well. So we’ll be able to pump each other up and it was great to have them cheering us on today.”

Anne LAVOIE-PARENT (Silver Medallist – Canoe/Kayak – Women’s C2 500m), after winning silver with Rowan Rowan HARDY-KAVANAGH, on women’s canoe becoming an Olympic discipline ahead of Tokyo 2020:

“We really want to take the next level every year because with the recognition in the Olympics the level has gone up so much. Luckily we have the world champions training with us, so at least we get to train with them and really see how fast they are evolving.”

Jarret KENKE (Silver Medallist – Canoe/Kayak – Men’s K2 1000m) on Team Canada’s bonding rituals:

“Compared to different world championship teams, we have a much smaller team and I feel there is just a tighter knit bond to each other. Six o’clock we all sit around the same table, all eat together, we all kind of socialise that way. Regardless of good or bad results, we all get together and celebrate the day.”
