CORRECTED* Reimagining Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame

This past year was challenging, yet illuminating. While it presented many obstacles, impactful opportunities have emerged to reimagine how Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame can continue to build Canada through the transformative power of sport.

At this time, our museum will remain closed to the public; however, Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame remains committed to our mission – educating all Canadians on the value, history, and culture of sport in this country – and we are proud to expand the ways in which we are doing so. Indigenous Sport Heroes Education Experience New Initiative Launching August 9, 2021

In alignment with National Indigenous Peoples Day, we are proud to announce our newest initiative, the Indigenous Sport Heroes Education Experience. This digital multimedia exhibit, designed like chapters in a book, features the stories of the 14 Indigenous Hall of Famers and also includes chapters about the creation of the Tom Longboat Award, Tom Longboat Award Winners and Indigenous Games; featuring the Arctic Winter Games, North American Indigenous Games and the World Indigenous Games.

This national education initiative designed for K-12 students aims to educate and inspire Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth across Canada by bringing awareness to the truths and experiences of these incredible Indigenous heroes. As of August 9, 2021, this resource will be available at no cost to all Canadians.
