Sport Manitoba – Sept. 20, 2019 – WINNIPEG, MB – National Coaches Week (NCW) is a week-long public awareness campaign that encourages Canadians to say thanks and celebrate the tremendous positive impact coaches have on athletes and communities. This week puts a spotlight on coaches and gives this, largely volunteer, integral part of Canadian sport a thanks.

With events held across the province and country to celebrate coaching, NCW provides coaches with the recognition they deserve for the time they devote to ensuring Canadians live an active, healthy lifestyle. This week say thanks to the more than 18,000 coaches who call Manitoba home.

Here’s what is happening in Manitoba during the 5th annual National Coaches Week.

Manitoba workshops and events being offered during NCW

Coaching Manitoba is offering over 30 NCCP and PD courses and putting on various events during National Coaches Week, including in rural locations such as Thompson, Eriksdale, Warren, Gimli, Brandon, Killarney, Rivers, Souris, Shoal Lake, Niverville and Morden. Free tickets for coaches

The University of Manitoba Bisons athletic teams want to thank all coaches by giving them a ticket to any home volleyball, basketball or hockey game that can be used during the regular 2018/2019 season. Contact for more information.

The University of Brandon has 10 pairs of Bobcats basketball or volleyball home game tickets to give away. Contact for more information.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have also created two offers for coaches for their Oct. 12 game that allow them to receive either 30 per cent off their ticket purchase or buy one adult ticket get a youth ticket free. Contact for more information.

Sport Manitoba is a not-for-profit organization and the lead planning, programming and funding agency for the development of amateur sport in Manitoba.
