CBC Sports to Provide Coverage of The Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games, Nov. 17 to Nov. 26 

November 15, 2023 – CBC Sports is bringing audiences across the country all of the action from the Parapan American Games, taking place in Santiago, Chile from Friday, November 17 through Sunday, November 26. More than 2,000 athletes from 31 countries will battle for medals and direct qualification to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games in several sports. Coverage will be available starting Nov. 17 on the free CBC Gem streaming service, cbcsports.ca, and the CBC Sports App for iOS and Android devices, with additional broadcast coverage on CBC TV as part of CBC Sports Presents weekend programming throughout the competition. Throughout the entire competition, CBC Gem and CBC Sports digital platforms will be offering streaming feeds of the events at Santiago 2023. Live streaming coverage officially begins Friday, November 17 with a full day of competition starting at 8 a.m. ET (5 a.m. PT) and the opening ceremony at 6:30 p.m. ET (3:30 p.m. PT). The official broadcaster of the 2023 Santiago Parapan American Games, Pan Am Sports Channel, will also be available for free in Canada throughout the event, offering additional live feeds of sports coverage, ensuring that Canadians will have even more opportunities to follow the action at the multisport event.

Broadcast coverage kicks off on Saturday, November 18 at 4 p.m. ET (1 p.m. PT) on CBC Sports Presents with hosts Andi Petrillo and Anastasia Bucsis breaking down the day’s events. They will be joined by reporter Devin Heroux who will be on the ground in Santiago with the latest updates. Coverage continues on Sunday, November 19 at 2 p.m. ET (11 a.m. PT) and will resume the following Saturday at 12 p.m. ET (9 a.m. PT).

Audiences can follow CBC Sports and CBC Olympics on Instagram, Facebook, X and TikTok for the biggest storylines and moments. Devin Heroux will be providing interviews with Canadian athletes throughout the Games.

A team of 140 athletes, including competition partners, will represent Canada at the upcoming Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games. Canada will participate in 14 sports: boccia, CP Football, goalball, Para archery, Para athletics, Para badminton, Para cycling, Para judo, Para swimming, Para table tennis, Shooting Para sport, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby and wheelchair tennis. 

The team includes 64 Paralympians – 18 of whom have won Paralympic medals – 61 Parapan Am medallists, 66 athletes who will be competing at their first Parapan Am Games, and 55 athletes for whom it will be the first multi-sport Games of their career. The team represents 10 different provinces: Ontario (54 athletes), Quebec (28), British Columbia (24), Alberta (16), Saskatchewan (5), New Brunswick (5), Newfoundland & Labrador (3), Manitoba (2), Nova Scotia (2), and Prince Edward Island (1).
