MIES (Switzerland) – Canada’s Senior Women’s National Team remains ranked fourth in the FIBA World Ranking Women, presented by Nike, after the rankings were updated following the conclusion of the November window of the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2021 Qualifiers.

Canada has held the program-high fourth world ranking now for over a calendar year after the new system was announced last November.

With no scheduled games in other regions last month, European national teams were the only ones in action in November, which is also reflected in the FIBA World Ranking.

Due to the suspension of FIBA competitions, an adjustment was made to the algorithm for the rankings by extending the expiration date of past results by eight months in order to ensure that results from two Olympic Games are at all times included in the calculations which weigh data from the past eight years.

Canada most recently swept their group at the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belgium with a 3-0 record to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.  Canada has now successfully qualified for three consecutive Olympic Games, dating back to London 2012.

The team is currently riding a 6-game winning streak dating back to the FIBA Women’s Olympic Pre-Qualifying Americas Tournament in Edmonton last November.
