Canada Soccer – Canada Soccer’s 2019 Toyota National Championships kicks off 9 October

Canada Soccer’s 2019 Toyota National Championships, Canada’s largest amateur team sport competition, kicks off 9 October. More than 2,000 players, coaches and officials will gather in three locations in three provinces including the U-15 Cup in Edmonton, AB; the U-17 Cup in Charlottetown, PE; and the senior Challenge Trophy and Jubilee Trophy competitions in St. John’s, NL.
 
“This competition provides a truly unique opportunity to showcase the top amateur players from coast-to-coast-to-coast and crown six Toyota National Championships winners in three age divisions,” said Peter Montopoli, Canada Soccer General Secretary. “We thank the tens of thousands of players, coaches, referees, parents, volunteers, and club and competition administrators who make this tournament possible each year and wish all participating teams the best of luck.”
 
Sixty-two teams from coast-to-coast-to-coast will play 159 matches across the six competitions and compete for their chance to win the Boys’ and Girls’ U-15 Cup, Boy’s and Girls’ U-17 Cup, and Challenge and Jubilee Trophy competitions culminating in Teck Finals Day on Monday 14 October.
 
Qualification for the 2019 Toyota National Championships kicked off in October 2018 and involved more than 600 clubs and more than 10,000 amateur players from coast-to-coast-to coast.

This year senior’s competitions mark the 97th edition for the men’s Challenge Trophy and the 38th edition for the women’s Jubilee Trophy. While the competition has sometimes featured professional or semi-professional teams, since the early 1960s the National Championships have strictly featured amateur teams.
