MIES, Switzerland (February 2, 2021) – Canada has drawn Group A for the Group Phase of the Tokyo 2020 Women’s Olympic Basketball Tournament.
The Draw Ceremony for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Basketball Tournaments, for both women and men, took place on Tuesday morning at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland.
Canada will face Korea, Serbia, and Spain during the Group Phase.
The Tokyo 2020 Women’s Basketball Tournament is scheduled for July 26 – August 8, 2021.
The Group Phase will be played in a round robin format, with each team playing all other teams in its group (a total of 3 games for each team). The teams placed first and second in each group and the two best third-placed teams in the Group Phase qualify for the Final Phase. Canada’s Senior Women’s National Team remains ranked fourth in the FIBA World Ranking Women, presented by Nike, after the rankings were updated following the conclusion of the November window of the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2021 Qualifiers.
