Beijing 2022: Team Canada at the end of Day 4

BEIJING (February 8, 2022) Day 4 at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games has come to a close. Here is what you need to know.

TEAM CANADA INSIGHTS:

BIATHLON

  • Scott Gows 5th place finish in the mens 20km individual biathlon event is a Canadian Olympic record. He also tied Canadas best-ever Olympic result in any mens biathlon event (Jean-Philippe Le Guellec in mens 10km sprint at Sochi 2014).

FREESTYLE SKIING

  • Team Canadas Megan Oldham and Olivia Asselin placed 4th and 8th respectively in the Olympic debut of womens freeski big air.

HOCKEY

  • Team Canada remains undefeated in the womens Olympic hockey competition. The Canadian women have outscored their opponents by a total of 33-5. 
  • Ann-Rene Desbiens set the Canadian record for saves in an Olympic hockey game (mens and womens hockey) with 51 saves during the CAN-US womens hockey game.

SHORT TRACK SPEED SKATING

  • Charles Hamelin will compete in the mens 1500m on Day 5. It will be the last Olympic race of his career in an individual distance event.

COVID-19 UPDATE:

Currently none of the 495 members of the Team Canada delegation in Beijing are in COVID-19 isolation.
