Beijing 2022: Team Canada at the end of Day 10

BEIJING (February 14, 2022) Day 10 at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games has come to a close. Here is what you need to know.

TEAM CANADA INSIGHTS:

BOBSLEIGH

  • Christine de Bruin is the first Canadian to win an Olympic medal in womens monobob, which made its Olympic debut at Beijing 2022.

SNOWBOARD

  • Max Parrot and Mark McMorris have qualified to compete for their second Beijing 2022 Olympic medals. They sit in first and eighth, respectively. Joining them in the final is Darcy Sharpe who finished the qualification round in 12th.
  • Two Canadian women have qualified for the big air final which will take place on Day 11. Laurie Blouin, the reigning World champion in the event, qualified in fourth, while Jasmine Baird sits in 10th. No Canadian has won an Olympic medal in this event, which made its Olympic debut at PyeongChang 2018.

HOCKEY

  • With 54 goals to date, Canada has broken its own record for the most scored in a womens Olympic hockey tournament (48 Vancouver 2010). 
  • Brianne Jenner scored her ninth goal for the tournament, tying the all-time record set by Canadian Meghan Agosta and Switzerlands Stephanie Marty at Vancouver 2010.
  • The team will compete against the United States in the gold medal game slated for Day 13. Canada has competed in every final since the event debuted on the Olympic programme at Nagano 1998.

COVID-19 UPDATE:

Currently none of the 473 members of the Team Canada delegation in Beijing are in COVID-19 isolation.
