Active Living Alliance for Canadians with a Disability (ALACD) Welcomes New National Board Members |
Doug Nutting, Chair of the ALACD is pleased to welcome three new Board Members to the Alliance leadership team. Two portfolios are new to the Alliance Board of Directors – the areas of Fund Development and Government Relations. Filling those roles are Stephen Grundy and Mike Arthur respectively. Both Mike and Steve are no strangers to our sector. Steve is CAO of the National Dental Assisting Examining Board, and prior to that was Director at the Heart of Ottawa Family Health Organization, President – Life Unplugged Consulting Inc., and Executive Director – Go for Green. Mike is retired Director and Manger, Physical Activity and Recreation, Government of NS, and a member of the Interprovincial Sport and Recreation Council, and Chair, of its Recreation Committee, Chairperson, Recreation Council on Disability in NS, Manager, of the Activity Centre, Canadian Mental Health Association, Dartmouth, NS and has an adult daughter with a developmental disability. Another new member to our team but not new to the Alliance family is Ashley Martin Hanlon. The Alliance met Ashley as a teen when she participated in our national exchange for youth with a disability both as a delegate and eventually as a leader. In addition, Ashley was an Ambassador for the ALACD All Abilities Welcome program. She is currently employed within the Federal government, and prior to that was Communications Coordinator for Easter Seals, NL. Ashley is taking on the role of ALACD Communications Director. “It is indeed my pleasure to welcome these exceptional individuals to our Board”, says Chair Nutting.
