NOTE: In line with the Selection Approval Panel process, additional athletes may still be named following the alternative qualification opportunities in Manitoba and Quebec (described below). Archery Canada reserves the right to add additional competitors to the team in order to complete a team or mixed team roster or for development opportunities in alignment with the Athlete Development Matrix and Long Term Athlete Development. Final athletes, if selected, will be notified by Monday, May 2nd 2022.

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond their control, several athletes from Manitoba and one from Quebec were unable to attend the selection camp in PEI. To provide these athletes with a chance to compete in Halifax, the Archery Canada Selection Approval Panel agreed to allow them an alternative qualification opportunity by shooting a makeup event in their home province. The makeup event must  include a full 720 and matches shot over one day. The athletes who achieved the minimum qualification score (MQS) will be allowed to fill spots remaining after the camp.  These names and any other team additions will be announced by May 6th.

Shawn Riggs, National Recurve Coach, and Soha Mahmoud, Junior Recurve Coach, will lead the recurve team in the competition. Duncan Crawford and Sonia Schina will act as coaches and team managers for the compound athletes.

From April 14-17, young archers from across the country were in Prince Edward Island to shoot for a spot on the Canadian team. The camp started with a couple days of practice, a technical leadership meeting and coach/staff social event. Since it was also doubling as a test event for the 2023 Canada Winter Games, the athletes got a visit from their mascot, Wowswik, on the first day of practice. The archers started Friday off with a 720 round and then team matches in the afternoon. Individual matches were on the agenda for Saturday, which rounded out a very busy long weekend.

Archery Canada and our community look forward to watching all ages of archers compete against the rest of the Americas.

The masters team for this event was announced back in October 2021. You can find that press release here: https://archerycanada.ca/2022-masters-pan-american-championships-canadian-team/
