DAUPHIN, MB – The 2020 Dauphin Manitoba Games Host Society is excited to announce it is a recipient of a “Celebrate 150” grant through Manitoba 150 in the amount of $16,000. The funding will be used to host two street festival celebrations for athletes, spectators, and community members during the 2020 Manitoba Summer Games powered by Manitoba Hydro in Dauphin from Aug. 9-15.
In celebration of Manitoba’s 150th birthday, Manitoba 150 awarded grants in a number of categories. The Celebrate 150 category awarded funding to events that highlight Manitoba’s assets, such as “Discover our Beauty”, “Meet our People”, “Experience our Culture”, and “Explore our History”.
“The street festivals are something we created in order to have a gathering place for visitors to Dauphin, as well as our own community members, to take in the Games environment and celebrate the accomplishments of the athletes,” said Dauphin Manitoba Games Co-Chair, Carla Wolfenden. “There will be lots to do and see at the festivals, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to Dauphin.”
The street festivals will be held during the Manitoba Summer Games at the end of each phase of competition, in the evenings of Tuesday, Aug. 11, and Friday, Aug. 14 in front of the CN Station on 1st Avenue NW in Dauphin. The festivals are free of charge and open to everyone, and will include medal presentations, food vendors, interactive cultural displays, live entertainment and more.
