BRADENTON, Florida – A fifth inning rain delay ended up bring the Friendship Series to a premature close as both Canada and the United States settled for a 1-1 tie in game seven of the seven-game series.
Louka Daoust (Repentigny, QC) blasted a solo home run in the first inning to give Canada an early lead before the US responded with an Elijah Green two out triple in the third that saw him score the tying run on a wild pitch.
Turner Spoljaric (Lisle, ON) worked three innings on the mound allowing the one run on two hits while striking out two, and Chase Marshall (Surrey, BC) tossed a scoreless inning in the fourth with on strikeout.
Robin Villeneuve (Gatineau, QC) and Cam Gurney (Scotland, ON) also recorded hits.
NOTES:
- The Friendship Series was the first event that Baseball Canada’s Junior National Team has held since March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
