The Culture Collaborative: Building Cultural Integrity Across the Canadian Sport System

What can true cultural change look like across all realms of the Canadian sport system? Join Dr. Jennifer Walinga for this important 4 part series discussion as part of the Sport, Leadership, and Social Change Webinar at Royal Roads University and hear from experts – academics, practitioners, sport leaders, athletes, and activists – in the field of organizational and cultural development in sport.

Part 1 Practitioner Perspectives (Bonus Reel Recording here)

The Culture Collaborative is a collective of sport practitioners who have formed a community of practice to examine and address their shared
interest in cultural development within the sport system in Canada and beyond. We are independent professionals from diverse backgrounds who seek to leverage the power of collaboration as we co create resources and writings, engage in research partnerships, build the network, and work to improve the cultural integrity of sport in Canada.

Listen in as Dr. Jennifer Walinga, and fellow practitioners Jordyn Ayelsworth, Elana Liberman, Katrina Monton, and Danielle Poulos discuss their vision for sport and the
avenues for fostering cultures of safety, health, fun, and success across all realms of sport in Canada.

Part 2 Cultural Development Initiatives In National and Multi Sport Organizations

Thurs Jan 18 12-1:30pm PT Register here

Several national sport organizations are taking part in cultural development initiatives. Part 3 Theoretical and Research Perspectives on Culture in Sport

Academics have highlighted the influence and perpetuation of colonial, capitalistic, and imperialistic principles on sport in Canada – currently our system is built on power imbalance – and unless we expose, challenge, and change these governing principles the beat goes on. Join Dr. Jennifer Walinga for this important discussion and hear from researchers Dr. Kristi Allain, Dr. Joseph Gurgis, Dr. Laura Misener, and Dr. Eric Macintosh
