Andrew will discuss his own career within the Paralympic movement and then discuss issues related to the future of the organization and in particular as it relates to inclusion.
Andrew was elected President of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) in September 2017 and became an International Olympic Committee Member in October 2018. During his time as IPC President he has secured a long-term partnership with the IOC through to 2032 and underlined the IPC’s commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals by signing a landmark Statement of Intent with the UN SDG Action Campaign. Before becoming IPC President, he served as IPC Vice President (2013-2017) and IPC Governing Member (2009-2013). He was the President of the Americas Paralympic Committee from 2005-2009. He represents the IPC in the IOC Coordination Commissions for Tokyo 2020 and LA 2028. He is also a member of the IOC Marketing Commission and is on the Board of Directors for the Olympic Channel and is a member of the WADA Foundation Board. He has been active in Paralympic sports in his home country Brazil for many years. Between 2009 and 2017, he was President of the Brazilian Paralympic Committee after previously being Secretary General.
