Developing Physical Literacy Coming Out of COVID-19

The world has changed so much since Dr. Cairney’s presentation on physical literacy in June 2020—COVID-19 has really affected the way and the amount we all move.

This webinar will focus on what has happened since the beginning of COVID-19. Where should we put our focus going forward? Can developing physical literacy and increasing physical literacy support positive mental health?

Presenter: Dr. John Cairney, University of Queensland

Dr. John Cairney is a Professor and Head of the School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences at the University of Queensland. He is past-President of the North American Society for Pediatric Exercise Medicine. An internationally recognized leader in the field of child health, sport and physical activity, Dr. Cairney is the author/editor of four books and more than 300 peer-reviewed research articles. He has held numerous funded grants, totalling more than $18.5 million in research grants and contracts as a Principal Investigator. A sought-after scientific consultant to government, Dr. Cairney was co-lead on the evaluation of the child and youth mental health strategy in Ontario, a member of the scientific advisory board for Healthy Kids Community Challenge, expert advisor on the brain health supplement to the ParticipACTION Report Card (2018), and lead investigator on the special needs strategy in the province of Ontario.
