Cross Country Ski Ontario is the provincial sport organization which governs cross country skiing in Ontario.  XCSO is home to 4 Districts: Lake Superior Ski District (LSSD); National Capital District (NCD); Northern Ontario District (NOD); Southern Ontario District (SOD); the National Team Development Centre, one of Canada’s nationally sanctioned cross-country ski training centres.

Job Overview:

The Executive Director oversees operations and achieves the goals and objectives of the organization. The Board looks to the Executive Director to provide initiative, leadership, and strategic vision within the organization. The Executive Director will facilitate open, effective communication and dialogue to ensure a strong, integrated organization driven by a focused and shared vision. The Executive Director is responsible for the administration of all services and programs, management of finances, administrative programs, promotion and communication.  The Executive Director acts as spokesperson for the organization

Qualifications:

  1. University degree in Business Administration/Sport Management or other related disciplines. 

  2. Experience with Sport/Recreation Management, human resources and/or non profit organizations is an asset. 

  3. Knowledge and experience in the areas of cross country skiing, administration and youth is an asset 

  4. Experience in managing volunteers, athletes, sports, or education related organizations

  5. Experience in initiating, planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and services

  6. Knowledge of leadership and management principles as they relate to non-profit/voluntary organizations

PROMOTIONS (MARKETING)
 

Reporting to the Field Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for the execution of marketing tasks as well as providing support for the volunteer program up to and during the week of the 2023 National Bank Open presented by Rogers. Your main responsibilities will be: 

Promotions Coordination

·      Coordinate all media partner on-site activations.

·      Perform day-to-day administrative support related to marketing and promotions.

·      Work closely with the corporate partnerships team and associated partners leading up to and during the event to develop a plan to ensure all activation sponsor needs are met.

·      Assist with the management of all on site promotions.

·      Assist with event day operations – layouts, min-by-min / scheduling, audio/VB for promotions, ceremonies, show fulfilment.

·      Distribute promotional material (posters, brochures, etc.) to clubs and camps within the GTA.

·      Develop a promotions binder that tracks all promotions information.

·      Develop promotional binder with critical paths and action plans for each promotional activity.

·      Work with Ops to coordinate all daily signage needs for promotion activations.

·      Assist with the management and maintenance of the promotions area.

·      Support the marketing and operations teams with implementation of the promotions committee volunteer program.

·      Coordinate all equipment/power/storage/ needs, etc.

·      Coordinate set-up and dismantle of all on-site promotions.

·      Assist with any pre-event/off site promotions.

Free Community Weekend Coordination

·      Work directly with Account Executives and Associated sponsors to ensure all sponsor needs are met.

·      Oversee the management of Free Community Weekend during the event.

·      Develop critical paths.

Assist in the management of volunteers assigned to assist with Free Community Weekend coordination during the event.

·      Ensure all promotional materials displayed for Free Community Weekend on site are in good condition and any collected ballots are returned to appropriate person at the end of Family Weekend.

·      Oversee the tear down of all Free Community Weekend items following the day.

·      Assist in the organization of any additional promotions connected with Free Community Weekend.

Ontario Volleyball Association

The Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) is a non-profit member-based provincial sports organization where dedicated volunteers and professional staff provide leadership in the growth and development of indoor and beach volleyball for all Ontarians.

It is our vision to be recognized as a leading sport organization in Canada. To that end, the OVA works with its partners to support athletes through excellent customer service and by offering inclusive programming on a foundation of physical literacy for all ages and abilities. The OVA will provide athletes with quality opportunities for meaningful competition and will support coaches and officials with professional development opportunities.

Job Summary

The OVA Beach Tour is the leading beach volleyball tour in Canada. We are looking for vibrant, hard-working individuals who are keen to assist in the delivery of the OVA Beach Tour.

Between May and August, the OVA will host approx. 14 beach tournaments throughout Ontario including Ontario Championships and Nationals. Beach Crew members help facilitate the operation of each tournament from start to finish. It is expected that OVA Beach Crew members will be willing to complete all tasks as required to support tournament delivery, including some aspects of physical labour.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and take down for tournaments, including but not limited to fixing posts, hanging volleyball nets, setting up portable net systems, setting up lines, raking sand, setting up tents, setting up sound system, etc.

• Lifting up to 50lbs

• Tournament Director Duties, including but not limited to handing out schedules and scoreboards, recording results, creating playoff brackets, delivering players’ and playoff meetings and medal/prizes presentations.

• Monitoring and supervising courts to ensure there are no issues with players, referees and spectators

• Ensuring the safety of members

• Liaising with onsite referees and medical staff

• Venue & shed maintenance

• Inventory and maintenance of equipment

• Beach clean-up

• Customer Service: For participants and partners, answering questions or resolving conflicts as they occur

• Other tasks as assigned by OVA Staff or the Beach Tour Assistant Coordinator

• Able to work all weekends (Fridays to Sundays) for all events on OVA Beach Tour schedule (14 weekends between May – August)

• Familiarity with creating volleyball schedules

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

 Responsible for working with Ontario Soccer membership to assess all aspects of Club operations to determine successful Club license applications and, where needed, appropriate action plans.

 Responsible for conducting virtual meetings with Club Leadership, review Club documentation and execute site visits for technical programs.

 Meet, educate and objectively assess Clubs on the criteria associated with Canada Soccer’s Club Licensing and Ontario Soccer’s OPDL scorecards.

 Provide leadership and direction relating to Club licensing criteria and requirements.
