Canada Soccer – Ontario, Alberta lead the way on day two of the 2019 Toyota National Championships

Northwest Territories and New Brunswick teams got their 2019 Toyota National Championships underway on day two from the Challenge Trophy competition in St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador. Ontario and BC led the way atop their respective groups taking six points from their opening matches.
 
Newfoundland & Labrador’s Feildians remain in the hunt for a medal at the Jubilee Trophy competition, but they will need a little help from Holy Cross. Feildians are tied with Alberta on four points each and will face off on Saturday. Ontario has two points and are scheduled to play Holy Cross women at noon Saturday in Mount Pearl.
 
In Prince Edward Island, the Boys and Girls teams from Ontario moved atop their respective divisions with convincing wins. In Boys’ action, Woodbridge SC scored four unanswered first-half goals to defeat Mountain United from BC, while on the Girls’ side, Ottawa’s TFC Academy scored four times to defeat Halifax County. Both Ontario squads are the only teams with six points after day two.
 
At the U-15 Cup competition in Edmonton, the host teams earned points on day two with Foothills defeating New Brunswick on the Girls’ side of the draw and Edmonton Mill Woods earning a point against Nova Scotia. Manitoba, British Columbia, Newfoundland & Labrador, and New Brunswick teams all earned three points.
