WINNIPEG, MB – Archery Canada is excited to announce that Winnipeg, Manitoba has been selected as the host for the 2025 World Archery Youth Championships (WAYC).
WAYC is an international competition in which U18 and U21 archers in the compound and recurve categories compete. The qualification rounds will take place at the Red River Exhibition Park and the final rounds will take place at The Forks. This competition will bring nearly 600 athletes from more than 60 countries for the week.
“This is a phenomenal opportunity for Canada to host an event at this level,” said Chad Sanders, President of Archery Manitoba. “We’re looking forward to welcoming the world to Winnipeg and the province of Manitoba.”
“Archery Canada is thrilled with the news that the 2025 World Archery Youth Championships will be coming to Winnipeg, this is the start of a new relationship between World Archery and Archery Canada hosting major calendar events in our country,” said Aaron Bull, President of Archery Canada. “The event will be a great opportunity for the local community to experience the best youth archers from around the globe. I wish to extend my congratulations to the Bid Committee for their excellent work.”
“This is exciting news, and it would not have been possible without the support of Tourism Winnipeg and Economic Development Winnipeg, so I thank them for their assistance,” said Kelly Taylor, chairman of the bid committee.
The bid was a joint effort between Archery Canada, Archery Manitoba, Tourism Winnipeg, and Economic Development Winnipeg. The most recent World Archery Youth Championships were hosted in Wrøclaw, Poland earlier this summer. The 2023 Youth Championships will be held in Limerick, Ireland.
