Ottawa, July 30, 2024 – The Windsor Spitfires will adopt the CAPT (Concussion, Awareness, Protocol, and Training) platform, a digital tool designed to improve concussion management. The implementation will begin with the upcoming season as part of the team’s ongoing efforts to enhance athlete safety.
CAPT offers a structured approach to managing concussions, facilitating better communication among coaching staff, athletes, and parents, and aligning with the organization’s health and safety protocols.
“Our main focus with the introduction of the CAPT platform is to ensure the safety and health of our athletes,” said GM Bill Bowler of the Windsor Spitfires. “This tool will help us manage concussions more effectively and transparently.”
The Windsor Spitfires’ adoption of CAPT is supported by a partnership with the Ottawa Senators Alumni. Terry Kell, CEO of CAPT, emphasized the importance of this collaboration: “The support from the Windsor Spitfires and Ottawa Senators Alumni highlights the value of improving concussion management and awareness. They recognize the importance of safely returning to school and play.”
