(OTTAWA, ONT.) — Twelve athletes have been selected to the Senior Women’s National Team for the 2024 IWBF Repechage Tournament in Osaka, Japan, Wheelchair Basketball Canada announced on Thursday.

“We are confident these 12 athletes, a group with championship experience, veteran leadership, character and youth, will succeed in Osaka,” said Wheelchair Basketball Canada High Performance Director Jeff Dunbrack. “Our group will look to build off the preparation that has been put forward, and we believe this team is in a position to earn Paris qualification in Japan.”

The Repechage Tournament will take place at the Asue Arena in Osaka from April 17-20, 2024. The eight-team tournament is the final opportunity for teams who did not qualify for the Paris Games through their zone qualifier to earn a spot at the Paralympic Games.

The competition will consist of two groups establishing rankings for crossover matches. Team Canada will play in Group B against Spain, France and Japan.

The knockout stage will unveil the four teams that earn a berth in the 2024 Paralympic Games.
