VNL Update: Canada’s men’s team defeats Germany

(Rimini, Italy) June 16, 2021: Canada swept Germany today in Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 3-0 (25-17, 26-24, 25-21) in the second match of the men’s fourth phase of the tournament.

“We are happy with the win,” said head coach Glenn Hoag. “We have had many ups and downs (during VNL) and we are trying to work on stabilizing our game and getting all our players healthy and functional before Tokyo. This win is good for team moral. We played well, but we still have to perfect many small aspects of our game.”

Canada capitalized on Germany’s 30 errors as well as scoring from Sharone Vernon-Evans (Scarborough, ON) 15 pts, Stephen Maar (Aurora, ON) (11 pts) followed by Nick Hoag (Sherbrooke, QC) with 10.

Yesterday, Canada fell to Poland, currently the top team in men’s VNL. On Thursday, the men play Japan.
