U16 Men’s National Team Announced Ahead Of Fiba U16 Americas Championship 2019

Canada Basketball – TORONTO, ONT. (May 30, 2019) — Canada Basketball is pleased to announce the 12 athletes who will represent Canada at the FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2019 in Belém, Brazil from June 3-9.

“We’re excited to move forward with a really outstanding group of high characters kids that I think are going to represent Canada very well,” said Head Coach, Kirby Schepp.  

Schepp returns as Head Coach and will be joined by assistants Jason Dawkins (Ontario Basketball), Kevin Duffie (Acadia University) and Patrick Tatham (McMaster University).

Canada is in Group B along with hosts Brazil, Puerto Rico and Uruguay.  Click here for the full tournament schedule.

Canada earned a silver medal at the FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2017 in Formosa, Argentina. This will be Canada’s sixth appearance since the FIBA U16 Americas Championship began in 2009, with the country medalling in each of their previous five tournaments.

Canada is currently ranked 2nd worldwide in the FIBA World Ranking Presented by NIKE.
