OTTAWA, ON – Following the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting on Saturday September 24, Archery Canada is pleased to welcome back a returning board member and two new Directors-at-Large.

Robert Tataryn, of Manitoba, was voted returned to the position of the VP, Finance and Administration to complete his final term in this role. Mr. Tataryn has been on the board since 2008 and has filled the vice-presidential role since 2018; this will be his second term. He boasts 37 years of experience with the Canada Revenue Agency in Audit and Criminal Investigations which included roles in a management position. Mr. Tataryn brings to the position an analytical approach which is rooted in his years of experience and training including Canadian Police College Forensic Interviewing Training. He has been active in Archery since 1998, attending many national and provincial events.

Saribel Deslauriers (NS), who is currently serving as the Executive Director for the Downtown Truro Partnership, was newly elected as a Director-at-Large. As an athlete for her country in handball, she has extensive experience in the sports world. For the past six years, Ms. Deslauriers has been involved on the board of the Canadian Team Handball Federation and has grown their member base by creating marketing campaigns and improving their social media. She has also served as a member of Women’s Development Coordinators for Inclusion and Diversity for North America and the Caribbean Handball Confederation, representing the Canadian Team Handball Federation. Ms. Deslauriers has represented Handball Canada at COC meetings and traveled internationally providing support as team lead.

The second person voted to the board is Kevin Booker (NB). Mr. Booker is currently completing his term as the President of Archery New Brunswick, and is the President of Twin Rivers Archery Club. Through his time in the sport he went from archer to active participant to someone who saw a vision for growth of the sport. His current efforts are focused on elevating archery to a collegiate level and trying to develop a program in which the sport is seen on an even playing field with team sports in the Interscholastic Athletic Association. Mr. Booker is also working with Education and Recreation to further grow the sport in his province to try and reach all persons to give them access. 

Aaron Bull, President of Archery Canada, is looking forward to seeing what Ms. Deslauriers and Mr. Booker will bring to the organization. “Myself and the rest of the Board of Directors is elated by the group of high quality candidates that put their name forward to be part of the Board. Saribel and Kevin were elected by the members and we look forward to getting them up to speed and integrated into the Board. I know they will both bring a wealth of knowledge and experience we can use in growing and promoting archery across the country.

Archery Canada would like to recognize its two outgoing directors, Jason March and Alec Denys, and would like to extend sincere thanks to them for their contribution and dedication to the sport of archery in Canada. The organization also looks forward to seeing the progress that the Board will make in the coming years.

OTTAWA, ON – Suite à la conclusion de l’Assemblée générale annuelle le samedi 24 septembre, Tir à l’arc Canada est heureux d’accueillir à nouveau un membre du conseil d’administration et deux nouveaux directeurs non désignés.

Robert Tataryn, du Manitoba, a été réélu par vote au poste de vice-président, Finances et Administration, pour terminer son dernier mandat dans ce rôle. M. Tataryn fait partie du conseil d’administration depuis 2008 et occupe le poste de vice-président depuis 2018 ; il s’agit de son deuxième mandat. Il compte 37 ans d’expérience au sein de l’Agence du revenu du Canada dans les domaines de la vérification et des enquêtes criminelles, y compris des rôles dans un poste de direction. M. Tataryn apporte au poste une approche analytique qui prend racine dans ses années d’expérience et de formation, notamment la formation en entrevue judiciaire du Collège canadien de police. Il est actif dans le tir à l’arc depuis 1998, participant à de nombreux événements nationaux et provinciaux.

Saribel Deslauriers (N.-É.), qui occupe actuellement le poste de directrice générale du Downtown Truro Partnership, a été nouvellement élue au poste de directrice non désignée. En tant qu’athlète nationale en handball, elle possède une vaste expérience du monde du sport. Au cours des six dernières années, Mme Deslauriers a siégé au conseil d’administration de la Fédération canadienne de handball olympique et a augmenté le nombre de membres en créant des campagnes de marketing et en améliorant les médias sociaux. Elle a également été membre des Women’s Development Coordinators for Inclusion and Diversity for North America et la Confédération de handball des Caraïbes, représentant la Fédération canadienne de handball olympique. Mme Deslauriers a représenté Handball Canada aux réunions du COC et a voyagé à l’échelle internationale pour apporter son soutien en tant que directrice d’équipe.

 La deuxième personne élue au conseil est Kevin Booker (NB). M. Booker termine actuellement son mandat en tant que président de Tir à l’arc Nouveau-Brunswick, et est le président du Twin Rivers Archery Club. Au cours de sa carrière dans le sport, il est passé d’archer à participant actif, puis à quelqu’un qui a démontré une vision pour la croissance du sport. Il s’efforce actuellement d’élever le tir à l’arc au niveau collégial et de mettre sur pied un programme dans le cadre duquel le sport est considéré sur un pied d’égalité avec les sports d’équipe de l’Interscholastic Athletic Association. M. Booker travaille également avec le ministère de l’Éducation et des Loisirs afin de développer davantage ce sport dans sa province et d’essayer d’atteindre toutes les personnes pour leur donner accès à ce sport.

Aaron Bull, président de Tir à l’arc Canada, a hâte de voir ce que Mme Deslauriers et M. Booker apporteront à l’organisation. “Moi-même et le reste du conseil d’administration sommes ravis par le groupe de candidats de haute qualité qui ont proposé leur nom pour faire partie du conseil. Saribel et Kevin ont été élus par les membres et nous sommes impatients de les mettre au courant et de les intégrer au conseil. Je sais qu’ils apporteront tous deux une richesse de connaissances et d’expériences que nous pourrons utiliser pour développer et promouvoir le tir à l’arc à travers le pays.

Tir à l’arc Canada aimerait reconnaître ses deux directeurs sortants, Jason March et Alec Denys, et aimerait les remercier sincèrement pour leur contribution et leur dévouement au sport du tir à l’arc au Canada. L’organisation a également hâte de voir les progrès que le Conseil fera dans les années à venir.
