The Olympics and Human Rights

The IOC charter states that the Games exist to promote “a peaceful society concerned with the preservation of human dignity.”

Yet, Beijing will host the 2022 Winter Olympics, as the United Nations condemns the Chinese government for herding Uyghurs into concentration camps.

Can the Olympics shine a light on human rights abuses, or do they just glorify the abusers?  What are the responsibilities of Canadian sport organisations to ensure that sport lives up to the IOC Charter,?
