The CCES Wraps Up Testing Program Prior to Beijing 2022 Olympics
Ottawa – February 4, 2022 – The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) has completed its pre-Games testing program for the 2022 Beijing Olympics. For the second time this year, we managed pre-Games testing while navigating the complexities of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions and evolving team membership. This process provides Canadians the confidence that our athletes will be competing clean when the Games open. The CCES wishes all members of Team Canada a fulfilling and positive experience at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games.
“The CCES worked diligently to fulfill our commitment to the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) and the athletes who will represent Canada at the Beijing Games,” said Paul Melia, President and CEO of the CCES. “Our pre-Games testing program was comprehensive, intelligence based, and incorporated testing recommendations from the International Testing Agency (ITA).” The International Olympic Committee delegated the implementation of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games anti-doping program to the ITA who issued risk-based testing recommendations to testing authorities.
