Winnipeg – Super-Spike presented by Corona, returns to Winnipeg this July 18th & 19th for one of its most anticipated events to date. Taking place at Maple Grove Rugby Park, Super-Spike combines Western Canada’s largest outdoor volleyball tournament with a weekend long concert series, all set in a festival atmosphere. This year the event is excited to welcome Virginia to Vegas and Preston Pablo as headliners, both making their first ever appearance at Super-Spike. Numerous local Manitoba acts including Encore, Jérémie & The Delicious Hounds, Daniel Desorcy, Always Dale and multiple DJ’s will also be performing on the main stage throughout the weekend.
Public interested in registering a team for this year’s event can do so by visiting superspike.ca. Last year’s tournament sold out with 353 teams participating, however, this year the event has expanded its capacity to 375 teams. Early bird team registration is now open at only $54 per person through to June 6th. All Super-Spike tournament participants receive free access for the concert series and on-site festivities.
Early bird weekend passes for non-tournament participants are also on sale now and can be purchased for only $29 at superspike.ca. After June 6th they will go up to the regular price of $39.
Super-Spike is thrilled to welcome iconic Canadian singer-songwriter Virginia to Vegas as it’s main event headliner. With over 645 million streams, Virginia to Vegas is best known for their chart-topping pop choruses & sticky electronic melodies. Virginia to Vegas has an impressive catalog which includes thirteen Top 40 hits on Canadian Hot AC radio over the last 10 years. This includes gold and platinum-certified singles such as “We Are Stars,” “Lights Out,” “Selfish,” “Just Friends,” and “Betterman.”
Along with Virginia to Vegas, one of Canada’s fastest rising pop/R&B stars Preston Pablo will be co-headlining. Out of the small town of Timmins, Ontario, Juno Award winner Preston Pablo has had a meteoric rise in the last year alone, cultivating a big sound uplifted by soulful spirit and uncontainable charisma. Preston is one of the fastest growing Pop/R&B artists in the country right now with over 3.6 million monthly listeners on Spotify, 172 million streams from his breakthrough hit “Flowers Need Rain” and 718 UGC creates from his viral social media and top 10 radio hit “Dance Alone.”
Super-Spike, which will be celebrating its remarkable 22nd anniversary this July, acts as a significant fundraiser with over $1.4 million raised to date for local not-for-profit groups. Along with its core charitable partner Volleyball Manitoba, funds raised from this year’s event will also support Super-Spike’s newest charity of choice, the Winnipeg Humane Society. “We’re so grateful to Super Spike for their support. This iconic summer event is a great opportunity for people to come together and have some fun, all while supporting the 10,000 animals we care for in shelter and in the community every year. The funds you raise, while having fun in the sun, helps provide care, love, and most importantly, second chances,” says Lesley Lewis, Director of Donor Relations with the Winnipeg Humane Society.
